We will begin our second ELA unit on  Families and Communities.  We will continue read and respond to fiction and non-fiction texts and work on letter sounds.

Some of the ELA standards that we will cover are:

-With prompting and support, ask and answer questions about characters and major events in a story.

-With prompting and support, retell detail(s) in a text.

-Engage in language play (alliterative language, rhyming, sound patterns).

-Describe familiar people, places, things, and events and, with promoting and support, provide additional detail.

We will continue our second math module, which will last 2 weeks, on two-dimensional and three-dimensional shapes.

The standards we will cover are:

-Sort objects and count the number of objects in each category.

-Identify and describe shapes.

- Analyze, compare, and sort objects.

For religion, we will be learning about the season of Advent.  We are learning that Advent is the time when we wait and prepare for Jesus’ birth.

In science, we will study farm animals, like the animals that were at the stable where Jesus was born.

During social studies, we will be learning about the first Christmas when baby Jesus was born.  We will also discuss how we celebrate Christmas with our families.
