February Newsletter

During the month of February, we will finish our animal unit and study Valentine’s Day.  Towards the end of the month, we will complete a Dr. Seuss author study as we celebrate Read Across America Day.

Some of the ELA standards that we will cover are: 

-Add drawings or other visual displays to descriptions as desired to provide additional detail

-Demonstrate an emergent ability to express thoughts, feelings, and ideas

-Describe an illustration and how it relates to the text

-With prompting and support, use words and phrases acquired through conversations, reading and being read to, and responding to texts

We will continue to read and respond to non-fiction and fiction texts and work on letter sounds.


We will finish our 3rd math module, counting to answer questions of how many. 

The standards we will cover are:

-Count to tell the number of objects.

-Compare numbers.

-Sort objects and count the number of objects in each category.

For religion, we will learn about St. Valentine and talk to each other about ways that we are loving and kind.

In science, we will be continue to observe winter weather and learn about winter animals.

During social studies, we will be learning about Groundhog Day and Valentine’s Day.  We will celebrate Valentine’s Day together and talk about how we celebrate with our loved ones.
