Welcome to St. Brigid/Our Lady of Hope Regional School

“We must adjust to changing times and still hold to unchanging principles.”
Miss Julia Coleman

Dear Families,

As we begin another school year - our 100th -  I can’t help but reflect on the statement made by Julia Coleman.  Miss Coleman was a beloved teacher at the school in Plains, Georgia attended by President Jimmy Carter.  Adjusting to changing times and holding to unchanging principles describes our school’s history.  The tools and techniques used in education have changed drastically over the past 100 years, while we hold to unchanging principles - the principles based on the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

We may use keypads and Chromebooks rather than ink wells and slate boards, but the values of love, forgiveness, service, and community remain.  We are, after all, a place where FAITH shapes the Spirit, FAMILY shapes the Heart, and KNOWLEDGE shapes the Mind.

Let’s take a moment to remember and thank the Rev. Dr. William McGinnis, the Pastor of St. Brigid’s Parish in 1918, and the four School Sisters of Notre Dame who opened our first school on Post Avenue; the men and women who went door to door during the fifties and sixties to raise the money to build our current facility; our dedicated teachers, School Sisters as well as lay women and men; the families who entrusted their children to us, sometimes making great sacrifices to do so; and most importantly, to the thousands of children who received their educational foundation at St. Brigid’s School.

And I thank you, for joining me as together we write the next chapter in the history of our school.

Yours truly,
Mr. Paul P. Clagnaz
Proud Principal
